My K-Drama List (2024) - Part 8

 I started my Korean adventure in the high sky watching Korean films:

27. Exhuma 파묘 -- I missed this film in the cinema. Was curious as Goblin's bride Kim Go-Eun and my favourite Sweet Home character Lee Do-Hyun acted in this film. Yeay, that venture capitalist single father Kevin Jung in Hyena acted too. Storyline is OK, wished it would be scream worthy... then again, it would scare the other passengers on the flight if I were to scream.

28. Following 그녀가 죽었다 -- Stalking, social media deceits, murder, mistaken identity, manipulation and societal hypocrisy. Mr Sunshine's Byun Yo-Han is the main character who 'spied' on a social media influencer, and is framed for her alleged death. Interesting storyline.

29. Escape 구교환 -- Watched this film on the flight back to Singapore. After my trip to the DMZ or Demilitarized Zone 한반도 비무장 지대 and meeting a North Korean defector, I was interested in North & South Korean army relations. Taxi Driver's Lee Je-Hoon and D.P's Koo Kyo-Hwan acted as about-to-be-discharged soldier and officer respectively. Action packed and heart-thumping. 

30. The Trunk 트렁크 -- Cos of Gong Yoo! The premise of the story is unique about contract marriages (like 'nikah siri', an unregistered, secret marriage in Indonesia which is considered valid under Islam but illegal under Indonesian law). The premise is sinister, conjured by Gong Yoo's ex-wife to torment his already weak soul. The introduction of the trunk hinted at some murder mystery but I find the this storyline quite loose and distracting. Gong Yoo looks his age (yeay, no plastic surgery), his acting skills remain nuanced and polished. The theme revolves around destiny, if it is meant to be, it will be. Takdir. 운명.

31. The Auditors 감사합니다-- I am an internal auditor for a charity for many years and naturally, this series interest me. Furthermore, Shin Ha-Kyun who acted in Beyond Evil is the lead auditor, alongside several actors whom I like. I prefer serious crimes, investigative story plots rather than rom-com so...
